Lars: I fell in love with Princeton…come this this Saturday, that’s Tomorrow

may3
Hi June,
moved to princeton eight months ago and have fallen in love with the coastside, often finding myself astounded at the unique people and places that i have encountered since i arrived.  my day job is photojournalism but on the whole i consider myself a visual artist, interested in cultivating, creating, and sharing art in its many forms.  living in san francisco for four years before my move to the coast i was a member of a community arts project that took place in the mission district with the goal of making art accessible to people on all levels – as artists, performers, curators, hosts, supporters, or viewers.  as i’ve wandered the streets of princeton and met many of the people who live and work here, the idea came to me of establishing a similar project here.. .  opening our doors and transforming outdoor spaces into art installations and performance spaces inviting the community to join in the experience and celebration of all the talents and personalities in princeton.

this saturday, may 2nd will be our first event which we hope will become an ongoing project, presented every two months, based on the interests and backgrounds of the participants.  the journey begins at 6:30p at 117 Harvard Avenue in the zócalo with an opening ceremony followed by three hours of live music, art installations, video projections, street theater, belly dance, tea service, performance painting, poetry and fire dancing. the celebration continues with an afterparty featuring global rhythms and drumming. we invite the community to join in as an artist, musician, participant or member of the audience and celebrate the peculiarities of princeton-by-the-sea !  donations of canned goods for coastside hope and new or used shoes for the casa de migrantes in tijuana, mexico are encouraged.
